Project 9 Performance Brake Pads For Surron, Talaria, Eride Pro
Performance Brake Pads – Engineered for Real Riding
Built for Surron • Talaria • E-Ride Pro 3.0/SR • LBX • Ultra Bee • MX4/MX5/XXX
Most brake pads in this category are just re-labeled mountain bike compounds.
Our pads aren’t.
We based our compound off the same as high-performance motorcycle and dirt-enduro pads — then size them to fit electric bikes.
The result?
More bite. Better control. Zero fade. Longer life.
Whether you’re climbing mountains, hitting wheelies, or braking hard from speed — your brakes should respond the same every time.
| Performance Factor | Project 9 Sintered / Ceramic | Typical OEM Pads | Real-World Advantage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coefficient of Friction (Bite) | 0.49–0.57 / 0.47–0.51 at 100–350°C (stays consistent) | Drops ~10–20% when hot | Predictable braking feel even during repeated hard stops. |
| Thermal Fade Resistance | Flat friction curve up to 350°C | Noticeable fade after heating | No “spongy lever” feeling on long descents or stunt sessions. |
| Bond Strength | 6.12 / 5.71 MPa (spec ≥4.5) | ~3.5–4.5 MPa | No pad delamination under abuse. |
| Density & Thermal Mass | 4.50 ± 0.05 / 2.60 ± 0.05 g/cm³ | Lower density | Stable friction & strong bite under heat. |
| Wear Rate (Longevity) | Low wear 0.12 → 0.35 across heat range | Faster wear at high temp | Longer pad + rotor life. |
What Makes Our Pads Good For Wheelies?
When you’re riding wheelies, brake control isn’t just about stopping — it’s your balance point lifeline. Our performance brake pads are engineered to give you the exact same lever response every time you tap the brake, so you can hold balance effortlessly. Unlike stock or MTB-based pads that fade, glaze, or get grabby when hot, our compound keeps a stable coefficient of friction even as temperature rises, which means no surprises in the middle of a wheelie. The bite is predictable, smooth, and progressive, letting you make tiny micro-corrections with confidence. Whether you’re scraping the fender or riding blocks, our pads help you stay locked into the balance point without panic dips or sketchy over-brakes. Simply put, better modulation = longer wheelies. And that’s exactly what these pads are built for.
When you’re riding wheelies, the rear brake becomes your balance control — you’re tapping it constantly to stay at the balance point. That means the brake pads need to stay consistent, even as they heat up from repeated use. Our testing shows that the coefficient of friction on our pads stays extremely stable from 100°C all the way to 350°C ,holding around 0.49–0.57 for the sintered compound and 0.47–0.51 for ceramic. This is huge for wheelie control because it means the brake doesn’t suddenly get weaker or stronger as it heats up ,the lever feel stays predictable, so your balance point stays locked in.
Stock pads, by comparison, tend to lose 10–20% brake strength once they get hot, which is why wheelies start smooth and then suddenly get sketchy mid-block — the brake feel changes on you.
On top of that, your test results show high bond strength (6.12 MPa / 5.71 MPa vs ~3.5–4.5 MPa OEM)which means the pad surface won’t delaminate during repeated brake taps — a common failure in long stunt sessions. And the low wear rate across the heat range means the pads don’t glaze, so they stay sharp and responsive over time. In short:
-
Stable friction curve = same brake feel from the first tap to the 500th
-
Fade resistance = no sudden “mushy” lever mid-wheelie
-
High bond strength = no pad failure during aggressive sessions
-
Low wear = braking stays predictable ride after ride
This is why our pads are trusted by riders who wheelie for blocks, parking lots, or full stunt sessions — they feel the same every time you tap the brake, which is exactly what makes long, controlled wheelies possible.
It's "The Feel" That Makes the Difference
When you grab your brake lever, the pad should respond instantly — not mushy, not grabby, not unpredictable.
Our compound delivers:
✅ Strong, predictable bite from cold to hot
✅ Fade-free performance during repeated braking
